What is the Wholesale Petroleum Industry?
Any person, institution, company, or other organization that uses large amounts (2,000 or more gallons) of refined petroleum a month, such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, ethanol, bio-diesel, and so on.
Categories of such wholesale fuel users with which we do business include:
- Gas Stations and Convenience Stores
- City, State, and Federal Government Agencies
- Local and National Transportation Companies
- Farmers and Ranchers
- Construction Companies
- Other Petroleum Marketers and Suppliers
What’s In a Name?
It is difficult to group all wholesale fuel suppliers under one label. A precise title for what we do would be Petroleum Distribution or Petroleum Marketing. For example: Desert Fuels could be described as a “Petroleum Distributor serving the Southwest and beyond.” But others in and out of the industry often do not use the same terminology when describing those in the wholesale fuel business. This will affect other businesses like Roofing – Commercial & Residential since they use transportation a lot. Here are some other labels used to describe those within the “Petroleum Marketing” industry:
- Gasoline and/or Diesel
- Heating Oil (HO) and/or RBOB
Marketing / Marketer:
- Distribution / Distributors
- Wholesale / Wholesaler
