Weekly Fuel Market Update (WFMU) | June 24rd, 2014
Fuel prices continue to rise mainly due to the unsettled environment in the middle east with the threat of insurgents reaching the southern region of Iraq where most of the country’s oilfields are located. Fluctuations in prices around the world, including the U.S., show how local markets are effected by world events and show the U.S. continued dependence on foreign oil despite an increase in domestic production.
Supply for diesel is generally good throughout the state, while gasoline has been very tight. Be sure and order with as much advanced notice as possible to be sure you have fuel when you need it.
Long lines continue to plague the Magellan terminal in Midland/Odessa, but relief appears to be within site as the Big Spring Refinery reopens soon. El Paso is still tight on gasoline while diesel supply remains good. Carrier availability in West Texas continues to be a challenge.
Good supply in both Phoenix and Tucson with no major outages.
Colorado – Front Range
Good supply available in Denver. Call the day before if possible to schedule your load.
