Weekly Fuel Market Update (WFMU) | January 14th, 2015
Winter weather has hit hard in several parts of the country and is playing a role in demand. Power outages, increased snow removal, and the need for diesel generators all contribute to additional fuel usage. Although demand is up, prices continue to dive to record lows. Forecasters are projecting the low prices to stay in place for the near future.
Supply remains strong and prices continue to be low for both gas and diesel. Some local refiners have maintenance scheduled to start this month that could cause tighter supply as we move into the end of January and the beginning of February. Desert Fuels has many options for fuel in NM at terminals throughout the southwest and will continue to be able to get fuel at competitive prices.
The new year has brought additional supply of diesel to Desert Fuels in the El Paso area. We have an abundance of supply available and will continue to be aggressive in the area. The Odessa Magellan Terminal is back to normal capacity and both gas and diesel are available. Carriers have been running 24-48 hours out, so be sure and schedule with as much advanced notice as possible.
No significant update in this area.
