Weekly Fuel Market Update (WFMU) | January 13th, 2016
A number of refineries are going into planned turnarounds this time of year where equipment is overhauled and production can be interrupted for weeks at a time. Watch for a general strain on supply between now and mid February.
Surrounding outages are putting a strain on supply in New Mexico as fuel is hauled to West Texas and Southern parts of the state. Price continue to follow the national markets, with still no clear bottom in site.
The Alon refinery at Big Springs, TX is in turnaround through the end of January. Expect long lines and delays on fuel from the Midland/Odessa region. The Magellan terminal in El Paso has been down for almost of month now due to a problem with cloudy diesel.
Phoenix and Tucson are seeing some seasonal tightening. Retail prices are down below $2 per gallon.
